Kiwibank outage: customers express anger and frustration as online services are down again

Kiwibank apologized for leaving customers without access to online banking, but gave no explanation as to why its services were down again this morning.

In an update posted to social media at 12:25 p.m., the bank said its teams have been working hard to fix its online banking services and app that are now operational.

The outage is the latest in a series of outages over the past month, amid a wave of cyber attacks on major New Zealand websites.

A customer posted on the bank’s Facebook page that she “had no more patience for this.”

In a Twitter post, Kiwibank said it knew some customers were having difficulty accessing its mobile app and online banking this morning.

But that patience wears off with customers, with one customer telling the bank to stop asking for patience.

It is not clear at this point whether the latest issues for Kiwibank are again related to a DDoS attack.

Home Affairs to expand online services and add more bank branch offices

The Home Office (DHA) is working to expand its online system to allow users to request their IDs and other essential documents without visiting a physical branch.

The department also intends to expand its network of satellite offices in local bank branches and bring its own counters online.

Responding to a parliamentary question and answer written this week, Home Secretary Aaron Motsoaledi said citizens with internet access can currently only apply for smart identity cards and passports online using the existing system.

NADRA suspends online services on Saturday

Ping survey shows high friction cost in online services –

RAJUK launches online services
