A visa service company has been charged with reimbursing a resident Dh5,775 for not obtaining a Canadian work permit for him.

The young man had filed a lawsuit against the company in the Abu Dhabi Family and Civil Administrative Court, claiming Dh13,000 for the company’s failure to obtain a Canadian work permit, despite the fact that he had taken her money.

The man said he hired the company to get him the permit for Canada, as it claimed it provided immigration services and issued visas for Western countries.

He noted that he gave the full amount to the owner of the business and got a receipt for 5775 Dh, which was part of the total money. The man said the business owner refused to give him a receipt for the rest of the money.

The Complainant added that after receiving the money, the business owner started dodging it and did not get the visa for him. He also refused to refund his money, prompting him to take the owner to court.

After hearing all the parties, the judge ordered the company to reimburse Dh5,775 to the plaintiff because they had not obtained the work permit visa for him as they had agreed in the contract.

The court dismissed further claims by the plaintiff because he failed to submit receipts as evidence to confirm that he paid the money to the business owner.

The company was ordered to pay the plaintiff’s legal costs.
